At the beginning of the season, no one expected Juventus to achieve UCL qualification. All the critics (some of them were even Juve fans!!) predicted that La Vecchia Signora would only manage the UEFA Cup.
But they’ve been proven wrong. The question is: can the bianconeri rise from the mist and mount a season-ending title surge against an increasing Roma and a declining Inter? Let’s take a look at the stats:
1. Inter GP: 31 W: 20 D: 9 L: 2 G: 57 GA: 21 P: 69
2. Roma GP: 32 W: 20 D: 8 L: 4 G: 58 GA: 32 P: 68
3. Juventus GP: 30 W: 16 D: 10 L: 4 G: 51 GA: 25 P: 58
To win the title, Juventus need to win at least four of their remaining eight games, and try to draw or win the rest and hope that Roma and Inter slip up.
Roma just need Inter to lose their 32nd match and then attempt to win or draw their last six games. Inter just need to keep Roma and Juventus at bay by drawing or winning their final seven games.
Three teams frenetically trying to score goals and keep clean sheets should create some pretty entertaining football in the Serie A, and, with the UCL fight between Fiorentina and AC Milan raging below and the eternal relegation war, expect the Serie A 2007-08 to finish in style…
Since we’re here, let’s also take a quick look at the battle for the UCL: Fiorentina are 4th with 53 points, and AC Milan 5th with 52. Fiorentina have been keeping them at bay by churning out wins and draws, including a win against Juventus, and it looks like ACM will join Udinese in the UEFA Cup next season.
As a devout Juve fan, FORZA JUVE!!!!
