Inter Milan’s new president Erick Thohir has admitted that Fredy Guarín is likely to leave the club during the current transfer window.

Chelsea are long term admirers of the Colombian midfielder while Premier League outfit Southampton have also been linked with an ambitious move for the 27-year-old.

Inter new owner, Thorir, who bought the club recently, confessed that the Serie A club may have to sell the versatile midfielder, as his head has already been turned. He said as quoted in The Mirror:

“Guarín is a great player, I like him a lot. We would obviously love to keep him, but the situation in Europe is not like in Indonesia,”

“When there are great offers from big clubs, we have to take them into account. And above all, we can’t make a player stay when his heart is not in it, but at another club.”

Jose Mourinho, ahead of Chelsea’s match against Hull City, claimed in the press conference that he is not interested in players like Guarin.

Although, we know, managers don’t mention the names of the players easily they want to sign, in this case, Mourinho’s comments probably make sense.

How many attacking midfielders do Chelsea want? Don’t they have more than enough attacking midfielders at their disposal? Even the likes of Mata and Schurrle fail to get regular games at the Bridge, so, buying a player who mainly operate as an attacking midfielder (can play in the central midfield too) doesn’t make sense.

On the other hand, if the reports from Portugal are true, then Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign their former player Nemanja Matic. Bit silly, it seems, as they would be re-signing a player paying huge amount of money, but on the flip side, they’re signing the right type of player needed at the moment.
