Incoming Chelsea manager Antonio Conte plots Roma raid

The Italian media seem to believe that Antonio Conte to Chelsea is done and the Italian will take over at Stamford Bridge after the Euros.

They are now claiming that Conte is eyeing up a move for several Serie A stars including the Roma duo Miralem Pjanic and Kostas Manolas.

It remains to be seen if there is any truth to these rumours. Chelsea’s need for a central midfielder and a centre back is no secret, therefore, it could just be wishful thinking from the Italian media.

Pjanic has been sensational for the Italian outfit and has been linked with a move to La Liga and the Premier League. The Bosnian is one of the finest central midfielders in Europe right now and would be a stunning addition to most Champions League clubs.

Manolas has also impressed for Roma and the young defender is yet to hit his prime. It seems Conte is already looking to prise him away from Italy as John Terry’s readymade replacement.

The England defender is out of contract at the end of the season and Chelsea have not offered him an extension.

Recent reports state that Chelsea have submitted an offer for Manolas (33 million euros) and that the price for Pjanic has been decided. The midfielder apparently has a release clause of 45 million euros.

Both players would be extremely good additions for Chelsea and if the blues can pull it off, they can be considered as genuine title contenders for next season.
