Aston Villa visit Hull City on Monday aiming to put a difficult summer firmly behind them.

After failing to secure promotion to the Premier League details about the club’s financial difficulties were revealed, prompting owner Tony Xia to seek additional investment.

NWSE Group, owned by the Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and American billionaire Wes Edens, purchased a controlling stake in the club during July and their future now looks a lot rosier.

Championship pundit David Prutton believes Villa can get the new regime off to winning start at Hull on Monday.

He has tipped Jonathan Kodjia to score first for the visitors on the way to a 2-1 victory (35/1 at Sky Bet)

“What will the atmosphere be like at Aston Villa after that play-off final defeat?” he told Sky Sports.

“Their problems off the pitch, at least in the short term, appear to have been sorted out, but there is still work to do. Holding on to Jack Grealish would be a huge boost for them.

“Hull have lost most of their first-team squad from last season and they’ve not yet been replaced. This could be a really difficult season for the Tigers. Away win.”

Hull are priced at 13/8 to win the game, with Villa on offer at 17/10 and the draw available at 9/4.
