After the appointment of Louis Van Gaal in the summer, Manchester United were linked with almost ever Dutch player who performed well in the World Cup in Brazil. Van Gaal brought Daley Blind into the side and was also linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven’s young attacker Memphis Depay. The 20 year old though penned a new four year deal in August which would keep him at the club till 2018.

However, there are fresh rumours which are creeping in. TMW have cited PSV Eindhoven manager Phillip Cocu who recently spoke on the player’s future to the Helden magazine. Cocu said, “It’s obvious that we can not hold Memphis long. In this society we can only grow a player, launch him on the international stage and then sell him to a club to a rich club. It’s not all bad policy.”

Depay has been in stunning form this season having already scored 10 goals and grabbed a couple of assists in just 11 games. The 20 year also had a superb World Cup given his age, helping the Dutch secure a third place finish. It is believed that Tottenham are also interested in the player but Depay might just jump at the opportunity to reunited with Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford.

TMW have mentioned that the player could leave Eindhoven for just €20m and its quite an enticing figure for potential suitors given the youngster has been dubbed as the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’. Whether or not Depay leaves in January or in the coming summer is a different question, but these are surely exciting times ahead of us.
