Last Wednesday saw Accrington Stanley hold their lead over rivals, Wycombe, at Crown Ground. With one of the highest turnouts this season, the Accrington Stanley FC crowd saw football pundits Robbie Savage and Jermaine Jenas lend their support to the team, encouraging local fans to fill up the stands along with Heinz Big Soup.

Accrington Stanley FC currently has one of the lowest gates of all league clubs and Heinz Big Soup encouraged football fans to come down and give their support ahead of the game; showing that playing to a full house really can increase team morale and performance. Throughout the match, Accrington Stanley FC performed well with 53% ball possession, six shots on target, and one goal scored.

Television pundit and ex-football player Jermaine Jenas said: “It was great to see such a terrific match at Accrington Stanley last night, the lads played a great game. We were among thousands that turned out for the match and the crowds really got behind the team, cheering them on throughout the game to maintain their lead. It just goes to show that when the stadium is fuller it really helps performance and hopefully encourages fans to go down on match nights to support their local team.”

Shane Shortman, Senior Brand Manager at Heinz said: “We wanted to fill up the stadium at Accrington Stanley to show how a packed home crowd can really make a difference to the team’s performance. We know our Big Soup lovers are huge sports fans and we are thrilled to support the team and fill up their stands as part of our campaign.”

Ahead of the match, this grassroots club was given a helping hand to fill up the crowd where football fans who attended were given the chance to take part in a half time game on the pitch, and sample Heinz Big Soup, keeping guests full throughout the game.
