Football News Roundup – September 05

I’ll be travelling for the next week or 10 days, so you won’t be seeing the same level of posting here as usual. I’ll still try to cover the Man Utd games as well as provide regular news roundups.

On to the news.

England

Richard Williams thinks that Downing should play on the left for England with Joe Cole replacing Lampard in the middle of the park when he returns. I’m more inclined to replace Lampard with Gerrard and put Lennon on the right flank meself.

Kevin McCarra, also writing about England, appreciates McClaren’s approach but quite frankly, McClaren’s real test will start in Euro 2008, and before that, against the teams of Russia and Croatia in the qualifiers.
