Football Headlines – 30 April 2007

I’m avoiding the ‘common’ news today – so if you’re looking for commentary on what Mourinho is saying about Ronaldo or what Rafa is saying about Mourinho, you’ll have to hit The Sun.

However, there are some quality articles that you should be reading instead. Here’s a quick look:

News Headlines

    1. Niall Quinn, Sunderland manager, speaks about Roy Keane’s success as the BBC profiles the United legend’s short managerial career.

    1. Louise Taylor in the Guardian talks about Sam Allardyce’s managerial methods. There are rumors that Sam quit because of lack of funds, other people are saying he’s quit because of a deal with Ray Ranson, others still are talking about the bungs saga. All I know for sure is that Bolton have known for 2 weeks about Sam’s departure and have used that time to decide that Sammy Lee, Allardyce’s assistant, is the right choice to be Bolton’s next coach. News report here.

    1. Sepp Blatter has told BBC that FIFA has contingency plans in case South Africa aren’t able to be prepared in time for the 2010 World Cup. It would be a major embarrassment for South Africa if that happened, and I think this is more of a public warning than any actual move to shift the world cup away.

    1. Duncan Castles in the Times has an interview with Michael Essien.
