Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez has revealed Manchester United are interested in signing him this summer.

The 28-year-old midfielder has a €30m release clause in his contract. Earlier, we reported the Red Devils are set to trigger the buyout clause in bringing the Argentine international to Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, United could face competition from La Liga outfit Valencia, who are also in the race for Perez’s signature. The Benfica star has admitted both the Spanish club and the English side are interested in securing his services.

“There are negotiations between other clubs and Benfica about me. I know that Valencia and Manchester United are interested. There are serious possibilities to leave after the World Cup,” Perez said, as reported by The Independent.

Perez’s improved display for Benfica saw his score four goals from 40 appearances in all competitions during the 2013-14 season. His form has earned him a place in the Argentina’s 23-man shortlist for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

United have appointed Louis van Gaal as David Moyes’ successor and have not made any signings for the next season. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager is with Holland will take charge at Old Trafford after the World Cup campaign with the Dutch national side.

United need to sign a midfielder in the summer transfer window. But the question is, do the Red Devils need Perez at Old Trafford next season. He is 28 and has a €30m buyout clause.
