LOSC Lille manager Rene Girard has confirmed that Liverpool striker Divock Origi will remain on loan at the French club till in the end of the season. There was speculation earlier this week about whether the Belgian would return to Anfield in January to alleviate the Reds’ crisis up front.

Girard said in his press conference, “There are no worries for Divock Origi. He is with us and will be until the end of the season, as was expected”. The 19 year-old was signed by Liverpool from Lille for £10 million but was loaned right back to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy for the season.

Brendan Rodgers faces a big problem with regards to his strikers and may need to take a dip into the January transfer market to solve the issue.

Despite spending over £100 million in the summer, the Reds have struggled to find the right formula and replicate their form from last season which saw them finish runners-up. New signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert have not scored a single Premier League goal between them since signing in the summer, while Fabio Borini is also yet to find the back of the net following his return from a spell away on loan last season. Raheem Sterling has faded away following a promising start.

Last season’s talisman Daniel Sturridge has been out with injury since September. He was expected to come back this week after returning to training before Liverpool’s last league game at Crystal Palace. But, he then suffered a thigh injury and now faces a lay-off until Christmas.
