People love a good football debate, and it’s your job to start one on Soccerlens. One way to start a debate is to convincingly argue one side in an opinion piece and then let commenters respond. The other way is to offer up a neutral post with two options and then invite readers to pick either option one or option two.
Here’s a good example: Champions League Final comebacks: 1999 United-Bayern vs 2005 Milan-Liverpool. If Ryan had argued that “Man Utd’s 1999 comeback was superior and here’s why…” or “Liverpool’s 2005 comeback was superior and here’s why…” then that’s an opinion piece. Instead, Ryan presents the two options, makes a rudimentary case for each and then invites readers to decide.
One of the important things here is to not get into too much detail on either side of the argument. Leave that to the commenters.
