Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has revealed the club turned down the offer from Liverpool for the services of Claudio Marchisio.

Spanish publication Fichajes earlier reported the Merseyside club had placed a €32m bid for the Italian international. The Reds signed Jurgen Klopp as the German replaced Brendan Rodgers as the new manager.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss wanted the 29-year-old midfielder at Anfield. However, the Old Lady has rejected any approach from Liverpool for Marchisio.

“We get so many offers for our players, but we are used to buying not selling. Not only Liverpool, we have received several offers,” Marotta told Calciomercato.

“We have renewed his contract, we focus strongly on Claudio and I believe that his first thought is he will finish his career here.”

The player himself has ruled out any potential exit in the future transfer window. Marchisio is happy at Juventus and wants to continue with his current employers, despite Klopp’s desire to sign him in the January transfer window.

“Klopp is crazy about me and wants me at Liverpool? I do not care, I just signed a contract with Juventus,” the midfielder explained.

This shows there is intention from the Reds in bringing quality players to the club, who already have a reputation at the European stage. With a continuous effort from Liverpool in signing top players coupled with Klopp’s influence, it would be possible for the English giants to attract star players.
