Wolves v Chelsea
Premier League
Saturday 20th February,
Kickoff: 15:00 GMT

Chelsea went through to the next round of the FA Cup after the victory at home to Cardiff City last week. It turned out to be a comfortable 4-1 win in the end but the full time scoreline did not tell the whole story.

Cardiff equalised through Michael Chopra and were level at half time but Chelsea’s quality shone through in the end. There was another goal from the increasingly impressive Daniel Sturridge as he added to the two goals scored against Watford and one against Preston scored in the previous rounds.

The reward for the win will be another home game in the quarter finals against Manchester City or Stoke on Sunday March 7th.

Chelsea are back in league action this weekend against Wolves away and have been hampered by a few injuries. Ancelotti has reported in his press conference that a total of 7 players will be unavailable for the game at Molineux tomorrow.

‘We have some injuries for the next game,’ Ancelotti conceded. ‘We have Ashley out, Essien out, Bosingwa out, Lampard is not able for tomorrow because he has a virus, Belletti is out, Deco and also Alex.’

John Terry will return though and it is most likely he will play alongside Ricardo Carvalho now that Alex has been ruled out. Anelka was also rested last week and should take his place back in the starting line up in place of Sturridge. Ancelotti did not name his side but this is something like what I would expect given the players available for tomorrows game.

(4-1-3-2)

Cech
Ivanovic-Terry-Carvalho-Zhirkov
Mikel
J Cole-Ballack-Malouda
Anelka-Drogba

They could line up like that but Ancelotti tends to favour the 4-3-2-1 (4-3-3)formation so they may lineup like this:

Cech
Ivanovic-Terry-Carvalho-Zhirkov
Ballack-Mikel-Malouda
Anelka—J Cole
Drogba

Manchester United will have already played before Chelsea and may well have gone back on top of the Premiership table after they play Everton at Goodison Park at Saturday lunctime.

After the Wolves game, which is a must win for the blues will be a trip to the San Siro and the first meeting in the Champions League with former manager Jose Mourinho and his Inter Milan side. Hopefully Lampard will be recovered by then. Also it will be important to have Essien and Bosingwa back available for the important end to the season with many big games to come. The injury to Ashley Cole is a big blow and he will be sorely missed but hopefully Yuri Zhirkov can step up and perform well.
