If the widespread reports are to be believed, Italy national team manager Antonio Conte is hot favourite (let’s say almost certain) to take charge of Chelsea in the summer.

The former Juventus manager has reportedly given his consent, and talks are underway for a deal to take place.

Conte, like any other manager, would like to bring players of his choice. He has reportedly drawn up a list of targets that he wants to see at Chelsea next season.

One of them is Roma’s world-class midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

Marina Granovskaia, Chelsea’s director, has already spoken to Pjanic’s representatives, per The Timeswhere the Blues are told they need to trigger the player’s £31m release clause to take him away from Rome.

The 25-year-old is one of Roma’s top players, and Chelsea should not face any problems in meeting Pjanic’s £60k-per-week salary.

Pjanic is reportedly interested in moving to Chelsea, but he could miss out on Champions League football.

According to latest report from Italy, Chelsea are not the only Premier League club vying for Pjanic’s signature – Manchester United are equally interested in the Bosnia midfielder.

United have been exploring the possibility of signing Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, but the German’s 50m Euro price-tag could prove to be a stumbling block. The Red Devils will try for Kroos, but should they fail to sign him, the club would then turn their attention towards Pjanic.

Okay. The moot point is:

Pjanic is Chelsea’s top priority. Whereas, he is just another alternative options for United.

We can safely conclude that Chelsea have a better chance of landing the Bosnian than United, or any other club, should they decide to make any formal approach in the summer.
