Chelsea defender David Luiz has been targeted by Paris Saint-Germain and the French club are considering making an offer for the highly rated Brazilian.

Ever since Jose Mourinho had returned to Chelsea’s managerial hot-seat for the second time around, it was reported extensively in the media that the Portuguese wants to cash in on players like Luiz and Juan Mata.

Mata’s future seems more-or-less secured now after it was reported that Chelsea boss wants to speak with the Spaniard when he returns from the Confederations Cup to let him know that he is an integral part of his plans and the rumours that are rounding the market have no foundation of truth in it.

However, the future of David Luiz is still clouded with uncertainty, as he has been constantly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Daily Star reported four days back that PSG have stepped up their chase for the 26-year-old and have made an opening offer of £21.5 million for the player.

The following day, there were again reports on him; this time Barcelona defender Dani Alves trying to convince him to join the Catalan club in the summer.

Now, this morning Daily Mail has a report that says Luiz is wanted by the would-be-new manager of PSG, Laurent Blanc as a replacement for former Chelsea defender Alex, who wants to return to his homeland Brazil.

Moving on to other news, Tottenham Hotspur fear that their London rivals Chelsea might make a late move to hijack the deal for Brazilian midfielder Paulinho.

We reported here on Saturday that Spurs had agreed a £15 million deal for the dynamic midfielder with Corinthians, but the transfer is far from over.

The 24-year-old admitted that there is an offer on place for him but he will decide with his family before making the final call. The midfielder said as quoted in The Mirror:

“There is an official offer from Tottenham to Corinthians. But, as I did when there was an Inter Milan offer, I’ll sit and decide with my family before I make any decision.”

“I will only do it after the Confederations Cup because it’s hard to deal with all these things.”

It is now understood that Chelsea have also registered an interest in the player and may lodge a late bid to price him away.

Valencia and Celta Vigo are battling it out to take Chelsea’s young central midfielder Oriol Romeu on a season-long loan. It would be an ideal opportunity for the 21-year-old to return back to his native country and get some games under the belt.
