Chelsea are looking to sign the Argentine attacking midfielder, Javier Pastore, during the January transfer window.

French outlet GFFN have published an exclusive claiming that Chelsea have already confirmed their desire to sign the South American playmaker. Pastore has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past as well.

Apart from Eden Hazard, Chelsea are lacking a specialist playmaker right now and signing Pastore would certainly make sense. Willian, Oscar, and Pedro have failed to deliver so far and Conte has been forced to rely on the likes of Victor Moses. But Moses could miss a few matches due to AFCON and Conte would need an alternative eventually.

GFFN are reporting that Pastore has not been a key part of Unai Emery‘s plans due to his injury problems and PSG will consider an offer from Chelsea when it arrives. The French outlet believe that a bid will be submitted soon.

It is true that Pastore has suffered from injuries recently and if he fails to recover fully, Chelsea are unlikely to make a move for him. However, when fit and on form, Pastore is an absolute nightmare for defenders and his style of play could suit the Premier League as well. His creativity and flair alongside Costa and Hazard could turn Chelsea into genuine title contenders. Defensively, the Blues are well set up now and are lacking in attack.

PSG signed Pastore from Palermo back in 2011 for a sum of €42m and will be looking to recoup most of that if they do decide to sell him. The 27-year-old midfielder has made just 4 appearances for the French champions this season. He played 26 games last season. Overall, he has picked up 38 goals and 46 assists in 212 appearances for PSG.
