Chelsea sign Kalou from Feyenoord

Some quick transfer news before the England v Hungary friendly tonight:

Salomon Kalou has finally signed for Chelsea. His is a 3-year contract and the fee remains ‘undisclosed’, although previous estimates had put it at 3 mil or so. A nice catch – falls in line with Mourinho’s desire to sign young talent as well as superstars. My guess is that he will either be loaned out or kept around in the reserves or as a sub. I don’t see him playing too much in the current Chelsea system unless they play 4-4-2, which then gives Mourinho a big problem – who will he play in the middle of the park? He has to pick 2 out of 4 (Lampard, Ballack, Essien, Makelele) if he plays 4-4-2.

Andy Johnson, that fast striker, has returned to the Premiership as a 8.6 mil signing for Everton. They beat Wigan and Bolton to the chase, and the Crystal Palace chairman has proved to be a hard negotiator (8.6 mil for Andy Johnson is way too much).

No news on Sheva yet, although Ruud’s saying again that he wants to stay at United while Crespo has said that there are ‘no confirmations’ of his move to Milan. Everything will be decided once Chelsea and Milan agree terms – Crespo, Drogba, Gallas and Ruud’s fates hang in the balance.
