Chelsea Reportedly Seeking Pedro Transfer from La Liga

Pedro-Barcelona

Rumors are swirling that Barcelona defender Pedro is getting numerous offers around international soccer to transfer away from the Spanish powerhouse. Pedro himself has confirmed that he has received several offers, and the amount of discussion around the issue would suggest the 27-year old is at least considering them.

In particular, English Premier League club Chelsea has been linked to Pedro, with the Daily Mirror reporting that the Blues have offered the striker at least £20 million over four years. That could make it hard for Barcelona to manage keeping the young gun, despite the fact that they just extended his contract this summer.

Pedro was integral to a Barcelona side that—at its peak—was one of the best in all of club soccer, with some situating them amongst the best clubs of all time.

But Pedro’s role in a team that features Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez was, at best, situational, and at worst secondary. He will likely be interested in finding a roster that would give him room to start regularly through the prime of his career. International soccer betting sites has Barcelona pegged as the heavy favorites to win La Liga in the 2015-2016 season, but that team would likely feature a very small dose of Pedro’s explosive style.

All that said, Pedro would not be a lock to start for Chelsea, with Eden Hazard and Willian traditionally starting out wide for Jose Mourinho’s side. Still, this would be a strong move for Pedro and an opportunity for him to start anew in a situation that no forward would wish for, stuck behind three generational players.
