Chelsea are considering a summer move for Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, according to reports.

The 24-year-old, who effectively replaced Diego Costa at the Vicente Calderon, has enjoyed a terrific campaign for the Rojiblancos. The Guardian understands that he is one of a number of potential recruits whose progress has been tracked closely by Chelsea.

The Premier League champions are hoping to add three to four players in the side, as they anticipate the departures of Petr Cech, Didier Drogba and Filipe Luis.

Griezmann has scored 25 goals for Atletico this season since his £23m move from Real Sociedad last July. He joined on a six year contract and has a reported buy-out clause of £43m.

Diego Simeone will be reluctant to sell him, but the Frenchman’s release clause offers suitors the chance to prise him away.

Last summer Chelsea signed Diego Costa and Filipe Luis from Atletico while Thibaut Courtois was brought in after he ended a successful three-year loan spell in the Spanish capital. Luis may return to his former club having failed to make an impact, but Chelsea retain a strong interest in versatile defender Toby Alderweireld and Spanish playmaker Koke.
