A glittering Stamford Bridge witnessed a sumptuous Chelsea display as Jose Mourinho’s side advanced through to the semi finals of the Champions League after a 2-0 win over PSG.

Andre Schurrle opened the scoring for the home team with a well taken goal but it was unlikeliest of heroes Demba Ba who somehow managed to knock a scruffy ball into the left corner.

It is the fifth time that Jose Mourinho has now reached the semi finals of the Champions League but Laurent Blanc’s men have themselves to blame. PSG did not look like the same team they were a week ago as Edinson Cavani squandered two golden opportunities to put the tie to bed.

Captain John Terry signified the huge win for the Blues, “This competition means a lot to us. The experiences we have had keeps you fighting and believing. Winning it was the best feeling ever. These big performances are what we live for. Everyone doubted us tonight but we showed great character and fight to come back. It all paid off.”

Elsewhere in Germany, Real Madrid escaped by the skin of their teeth as Borussia Dortmund rattled the Galacticos with a high pressing game and won 2-0 thanks to Marco Reus’ brace.

The German outfit had little chance of overturning the Los Blancos’ 3-0 advantage from the first-leg but two first half goals from the brilliant and energetic Reus took the game down to the wire.

Jurgen Klopp’s side took full advantage of Angle Di Maria’s missed penalty which goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller saved with great aplomb.

Sadly for the home side it was perhaps a step too far as Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed two golden opportunities to level the tie on aggregate, first hitting the post and then being denied twice by Iker Cassilas.

The nervy visitors held to progress but the kind of effort Dortmund showed on the night was nothing short of impeccable stuff with relentless pressing hardly allowing the Spanish side to settle into a rhythm.
