According to reports from Swedish media outlet Expressen, West Bromwich Albion are looking to make a move for Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that the Baggies have made contact with the Yorkshire club over a potential move for Jansson. Darren Moore is looking to bolster his defensive options, following the departure of Jonny Evans, and is keen to sign a solid defender to fill the void.

Jansson has been one of the key players for Leeds since he joined the club. Initially signed on loan, he quickly rose to become a cult-hero, and Leeds signed him up permanently in 2017.

The 27-year-old struggled badly last season and endured a difficult time at Elland Road. He failed to recapture his previous form and looked more vulnerable at the back, and therefore Marcelo Bielsa has a big decision to make if the Baggies make a tempting offer,

The Whites are unlikely to sell their star player to a direct rival club, and they should resist all temptations dangled at them.

Every player has a price, and if the Baggies come up with a tempting offer it could force them to part ways, but Jansson could play a vital role for the club and his manager during the rebuilding process.

His experience and quality will be invaluable for the club. Plus, being a fan favourite Leeds fans could go against the board and the manager if they decide to sell him, especially at a time when the club is struggling to attract their top targets.
