Midfielder will be at Chelsea next season, Work permit sorted, Mou ‘crazy’ about him

The Times journalist Matt Dickinson wrote few months back that Chelsea’s greatest challenge was not about winning the league, nor the Champions League but producing quality young players from the academy.

It’s not like Chelsea do not sign young players. They sign top quality young stars every now and then, but the club probably do not have the patience to develop them into a world class star. The likes of Lucas Piazon, Josh McEachran, Gael Kakuta (who joined Sevilla), Romelu Lukaku and many others who were simply denied the opportunity to develop at Chelsea.

Bertrand Traore

There could be an exception to that rule next season. If the reports are to be believed, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is excited with young Bertrand Traore, who will return to Stamford Bridge next season.

Traore was sent on loan to Vitesse, where he enjoyed two wonderful seasons at the Dutch club. This season he has scored 17 goals for Vitesse. The 19-year-old midfielder is ready to return to Chelsea this summer after he was granted a work permit.

Vitesse head coach, Peter Bosz gave an interview to De Telegraaf, where he says Mourinho would give him regular opportunities at Chelsea, which will help the youngster grow as a top footballer.

He said, “I think he will become a top class player. Jose Mourinho is crazy about him. He will get chance at Chelsea.”

The Guardian reported recently that the youngster has been granted a work permit which means he will be allowed to join his Chelsea team mates next season. Let’s just hope, his talent gets the due recognition at Chelsea.
