Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been linked with a move to the Premier League and Arsenal are one of the clubs he could join.

The Argentine is regarded as the finest footballer ever and is reportedly frustrated with how the tax authorities in Spain have dealt with him.

According to Daily Star (via Telegraph), Messi is ready to consider a move to England in the summer and the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, City and Manchester United are all interested. The report also states that Arsenal are his favoured destination.

However a stumbling block would be the Argentine’s wage demands. Messi is looking for a weekly wage of 600,000 pounds and that could be a real problem for any club in the world.

Although the new TV deal will arm the Premier League clubs with unmatched resources, Messi’s wage demands could still be a problem for Arsene Wenger who is known to be extremely frugal in the transfer market.

But the Frenchman has seen what marquee signings can do to a team. The likes of Ozil and Sanchez have taken Arsenal to a new level and he will be hoping to continue that progress with another marquee signing.

Apart from sheer quality, Messi will also add much needed experience and confidence to the Arsenal side. The Gunners are not far from winning the title and a player like Messi could make a crucial difference.
