Valencia came in to this match as the La Liga leaders and a 38th minute Pablo Hernandez goal gave them a 1-0 lead at the home of Barcelona. After the break, Barca responded strongly with the help of the midfield maestro Xavi who assisted both the goals scored by Barcelona.
