Atletico Madrid are facing a herculean task this season to keep hold of their star players. If the reports are to be believed Chelsea are already planning to buy at least three players (Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Tiago Mendes) from them while Premier League giants Manchester United are plotting a move to sign central defender Miranda as well.

However, not everyone is prepared to leave, as we found, Koke and Juanfran committing their futures at the Madrid club. And likewise Diego Godin is expected to stay with the La Liga Champions as well.

Godin is thought to be a long term target of Chelsea. In 2011, Chelsea had their £50m bid rejected for the Uruguayan defender (and Sergio Aguero, then at Atletico), while this summer he has been extensively linked with the Blues as well.

The 30-year-old is a class defender in his own right and played a key role for Atletico last season. His header at the Camp Nou gave Atletico the La Liga title while scored the winner against Italy on Tuesday.

Atletico manager Simeone said as quoted by Le 10 Sport: “Godin is one of the most important players of the club. I’ll never let him go.”

Godin himself has admitted that although its flattering to get his name linked with top clubs but he has no intentions of leaving Atletico Madrid at the moment.
