According to reports across Europe, Barcelona’s young forward, Antonio Sanabria is close to signing for Roma; but Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger is refusing to accept that the race is over.

Italian newspaper, Il Tempo claims that the Serie A side are looking to pip the Gunners to the post for the 17-year-old striker; and could secure the signing within the week.

However, Spanish publication, ‘Sport.es’ reports that Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal executives speedily interrupt proceedings, by approaching both the player’s father and his agent, Raul Verdu.

Arsenal are willing to loosen their purse-strings so as to secure the hit-man; with Gunners CEO, Richard Law reportedly on standby to address any relevant paperwork with the Catalan giants.

The Paraguayan striker’s current contract with Barca is due to expire on June 30th 2015, and has a release clause of €3m.

Arsenal’s interest has been known for months, and it has even been said that the player and his family might have already flown to London to see the facilities and future housing arrangements.

Yesterday, we brought you the news of the reported Roma interest in the player; and now it seems they have moved quickly to remove the Arsenal possibility from the equation.

But with the Gunners having a long-standing interest in the striker, they will seemingly keep pushing for his signature until all options are exhausted.
