Dutch international Klaas Jan Huntelaar’s agent has revealed that the striker would welcome a move to the blue half of San Siro.

Huntelaar is a wanted man. The 29-year-old striker is currently in the final year of his contract at Schalke and has refused to sign an extension. The German club will look to cash in on the forward this January instead of losing him for free next season.

Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the striker during the winter transfer window. Both the English clubs are currently short in numbers upfront.

Although Luis Suarez has been in fine form for the Reds this season, manager Brendan Rodgers needs a back-up for his talisman striker. In fact at times Liverpool have seemed to be too dependent on the Uruguayan international for goals.

Having allowed Andy Carroll to join West Ham at the start the season, Liverpool were left short in numbers up front as they failed to land most of their summer transfer targets and Borini suffered from an injury.

Arsenal, like Liverpool, are virtually left with just Giroud as their only striking options upfront (that is if one ignores Chamakh in the squad). But the Frenchman hasn’t scored regularly enough after signing for the English club this season; he will need time to fill in the big boots of Robin van Persie.

Meanwhile the Arsenal attack has look disjointed and Wenger surely needs to add an attacking spark in the January transfer window to reignite Arsenal’s challenge for the Champions League spot.

Arsene Wenger is believed to be highly interested in Huntelaar as the Dutchman could arrive at a bargained price. The former Real Madrid striker’s record has been prolific. He scored an astounding 48 goals for Schalke (in all competitons) last season. He definitely has the qualities to succeed as a striker in English Premier League.

But Liverpool and Arsenal are not the only European club interested in acquiring his service. Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan are closely monitoring his situation as well. Huntelaar off course has the experience of playing in Serie A with AC Milan in the past and his agent in a recent statement has revealed that the Dutchman would welcome a move to the blue half of Milan.

Huntelaar’s agent, Arnold Oosterveer said:

“He would not mind playing in Milan again – especially because Inter would give him the chance to show he is a great player.”

Schalke would welcome any bid in excess of £10million for their star striker. A bidding war is likely to commence in January, but if Huntelaar prefers a move to Serie A, then Liverpool and Arsenal might have to look elsewhere.
