Earlier this month, Arsenal have been linked with a move for one one of the brightest prospects in world football at the moment, Lorenzo Insigne, the Napoli forward.

The 23-year-old forward has been one of the key performers for Napoli this season under Rafa Benitez. Arsenal were thought to be preparing a £17m bid for Insigne, while his agent claimed it is an honour to be linked with such a prestigious club.

“We take into account the praising reports that Wenger has given about the player,” Insigne’s agent, Antonio Ottaiano, said to TMW.

“We are honoured that a club like Arsenal could have Lorenzo on their wish list. However, from here to take it to the next level, that is a possible transfer, there is a huge mountain in between named Napoli.

“The club consider him without a shadow of a doubt as one of their key players for their ambitious project.

“Hence, as of today, I don’t see that there can be any further developments unless Arsenal speak to Napoli directly and Napoli change their view on Lorenzo’s role here.”

Lorenzo, who has a contract till 2018, has been impressive this season, where he scored six goals and bagged seven assists to his name.

The talented forward when asked recently about his future plans, he dropped hints that suggest may be he is looking for a move in near future. He said in an interview with CDS:

“For now I’m only focused on the World Cup, I’ll think about Napoli afterwards.”

It clearly suggests as CDS also mentioned, as of now, he is focussed with Napoli, but if any big European club tables a big offer f0r him, the situation might change next year.

Arsenal should try their luck after the World Cup with a better offer. What you think Gunners fans?
