di maria2Argentina manager Gerardo Martino says Manchester United star Angel Di Maria’s injury is not serious after he was taken off during their international friendly match against Portugal at Old Trafford.

United winger Luis Nani, who is currently on-loan at Sporting Lisbon tackled Di Maria in the first half and the former Real Madrid winger continued to play before being substituted at hour’s mark.

Di Maria was taken to the hospital and x-rays suggest the injury is not serious, according to the former Barcelona manager.

“We don’t think it is anything serious. It was quite a tough blow that he took,” Sky Sports reported Martino as saying.

“It was a tough knock. It cut the skin a little bit. But we have had a look at it and we are evaluating the situation. “We are having a look at some X-rays, some images that have been taken but in spite of that we don’t think it is too serious.”

United face Arsenal in the next league clash on Saturday at the Emirates. Louis van Gaal has already lost Daley Blind through injury on international duty.

In addition to this, David De Gea also picked up injury during the training session with Spain last week. However, reports suggest that the goalkeeper will be in contention to face the Gunners later this weekend.

United fans would be hoping that Di Maria will be fit to start against Arsenal, while they would be eagerly waiting to see what Van Gaal has to say about De Gea’s injury.
