Another fine morning. Another Angel di Maria transfer rumour day. And yet another conflicting transfer reports.
OK, let’s start. According to our understanding, based on observations, Madrid based newspapers like Marca and AS are trying to project that although Manchester United are interested in Di Maria, the winger is likely to join PSG. Why? Simply, because they are offering more money. The figure has inflated from around €40m before World Cup to €80m within one month, as per the latest report.
However, Catalan based newspaper are in the opinion that PSG have to comply with Financial Fair play rules, and having already signed David Luiz from Chelsea for a ridiculous amount, they probably won’t be able to pay another ridiculous amount unless they sell any of their top players.
Mundo Deportivo claim today that Di Maria will join either PSG or Manchester United. He prefers PSG because of the possibility of earning more money (wages) and Champions League football next season, but PSG might not be able to go through with it due to FFP regulations, as I said earlier. In such a scenario, Di Maria might end up joining United as Louis van Gaal is interested in him while Madrid would prefer to sell him to Old Trafford as they would not face Di Maria as an opponent in the Champions League.
Edinson Cavani wasn’t involved in a PSG promotional campaign (their new kit launch), which is a sign that the Uruguayan, who is a reported target of Manchester United, is definitely leaving the club. AS claim it only indicates that PSG would be going for Di Maria at the earliest.
