A Cornucopia Football Feast

Manchester United finally put in a very appetizing, table-topping performance, which completely knocked the stuffing out of a shell-shocked Blackburn Rovers team at Old Trafford.

Following the Thanksgiving holiday, United indulged their adoring, but sometimes critical, supporters to their fill as the Reds put on a complete footballing feast for all to see against the visitors.

After being rightfully criticized by their critics for not putting a performance, which warranted their current 29-match unbeaten streak, the United players gave a pleasing taste of exactly what the club is capable of by putting seven goals passed an inform Blackburn side.

It was definitely a day of giving, though, as every single United player did their best to make sure that each of their teammates did not leave the table without getting their ample amount of helpings.

But, amazingly, Dimitar Berbatov did not only go back for fifths, but he admirably then took the honors of serving up the dessert as well.

The only end-of-the meal treat that was being offered, though, was the often-delectable humble pie, which Berbatov graciously sliced-up healthy portions for each and every one of his critics.

Ahead of the match, Sir Alex Ferguson defied the suggestions, or prayers, to remove Berbatov from the head of the United table, and that trust was appreciatively paid off by Bulgarian.

After his suffice, but personally frustrating performance against Rangers, Berbatov scored a mouth-watering FIVE goals in their complete dismantling of Blackburn.

Scoring so early in the match was just the tonic that Berbatov needed to subside the effects of his overpowering whine, and, ultimately, relaxed himself to be in the mood to enjoy the meal – and did he ever.

To sum up his fine, ruthless performance, only the late-George Best, who the football world just celebrated the fifth anniversary of his passing, scored more goals in a single match for United.

The Bulgarian, who tied Andy Cole as the only other player under Sir Alex to score five goals in one match, will rightfully gobble up all of the headlines, but, really, Berbatov was just the main beneficiary of a banquet-style team performance.

Savoring
Anderson put in a very flavorful performance as the midfield chef made sure that his magical spice was sprinkled over all of the fixings.

Anderson steamed through the Blackburn midfield with his pace, and carved apart their back-four with his some blazing arrange of passes.

The Brazilian midfielder has often put in very passive performances, which never warranted him a consistent run in the team, but today Anderson will certainly give the Gaffer a post-meal selection headache.

Crumbled
There was only one disappointing aspect of United’s performance was their inability to keep the pristine white tablecloth clean.

After Nemanja Vidic was sent to bed early for his good behavior, Ferguson gave Jonny Evans another chance to reestablish as a member of the head table.

Unfortunately, the defender will more than likely be sent back to the children’s table after not being very well mannered and ruining the clean sheet.

Evans, who admitted, himself, that he has not been up to scratch following his poor start to the season, allowed Blackburn their only goal after being warned no fewer than three times as Christopher Samba finally forced Evans into spilling his drink.

The only potential problem after a very satisfying, heavy meal of goodies is there could be a lean chance of the team being lethargic and wanting to go on a diet, but that is something that Sir Alex will make sure does not happen.

After drum-sticking that performance in the minds of the title rivals, Manchester United will now go into the living room and kick up their feet as they watch Chelsea attempt to handle the pressure of not being at the head of the Barclays Premier League table.
