torres_2463382bFernando Torres’ time at Chelsea could end in the ongoing summer transfer window as the striker is believed to be a target for Wolfsburg.

According to gianlucadimarzio.com, the Bundesliga side have made contact with the West London club for the services of the Spain international. Wolfsburg were interested in signing Álvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku this summer.

However, their hope of signing a striker was dashed on two occasions when Morata left Real Madrid for Juventus. Meanwhile, Torres’ former teammate Lukaku agreed terms to join Everton on a permanent transfer after leaving Chelsea.

Wolfsburg have already made contact with Torres’ agent, but the deal could not take shape as it is still in the early stages of negotiations. The deal could be complicated, but the German club wants to sign the former Liverpool star.

Chelsea signed Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid earlier this summer. The Blues allowed Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o leave the club, with Lukaku recently joining the list of striker leaving Stamford Bridge.

At present, the Premier League giants have Costa, Torres and Didier as the recognised strikers in the squad. Should they allow their club-record signing join Wolfsburg, then his compatriot will be the lone striker available at the club.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that Torres will not leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window.

“No. Three strikers is fundamental in a squad and we have three strikers; Fernando, Didier and Diego so one of them is not going for sure,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.

With the comments made by the former Real and Inter Milan manager, Wolfsburg will face an uphill task to lure Torres make a switch to the Bundesliga. However, with Costa’s arrival, it is unlikely that Torres could get more playing time next season.

It should be seen whether Torres prefers to play second fiddle to the Brazil-born Spanish striker or will he inform Chelsea that he would leave in order to get more playing time at another club.
