Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that John Terry is a great player but the Gunners will not be signing him at the end of his contract.

Wenger was questioned by the press on whether he would like to sign the Chelsea legend like he did with Petr Cech.

The Arsenal manager said: “No [he won’t sign] because he is at the end of his career and he has spent his career at Chelsea”.

“If he wants to play longer, I am sure he will play for Chelsea”.

“He was not only a great player, he certainly still is, but he was also a great coach on the pitch. I saw him here once at London Colney playing with the Under 21s and the way he coached the team as a player was absolutely marvellous”.

“He was a real leader and he had a great career as well, let’s not forget that. That’s never a coincidence. The guys who last such a long time have something special”, Wenger added.

The Chelsea captain is out of contract in the summer and will not be offered an extension by the club.

John Terry has insisted that he will not be playing for another English club and, therefore, a move to MLS might be on the cards for the former England international.

It is a surprising decision from Chelsea to not renew his contract considering the fact that he is still their best defender and is fit enough to play at least one more season.

Furthermore, he could have been a big help for the likes of Zouma and Baba Rahman who need an experienced mentor like him.
