Beckham trains with Arsenal but Wenger rules out signing rumours

The 37-year-old is a free agent now after seeing out his contract with MLS outfit LA Galaxy while he has been linked with several English and European clubs.

The former Manchester United star has shifted to London with his family and would turn up at Arsenal’s training ground at London Colney for a training stint with the Gunners, fuelling speculation that he might join the North London club in winter.

However, the Frenchman has dismissed such speculations and confirmed at his press conference that Beckham called him to ask whether he could train with his team but there hasn’t been any talk of signing.

Wenger said as quoted in the press:

“He has not done anything for a long, long time. He comes here to try to be fit again. He called me.

“We are helping someone who deserves it. We are open for people who behave well when they come here and who have given great service.”

Meanwhile, Wenger has revealed that Barcelona striker David Villa is also unlikely to join the Gunners during the transfer window as there is no room for any negotiation.

The 31-year-old has struggled to hold down a place in Tito Vilanova’s side on a regular basis and he was willing to move for first team football elsewhere.

However, the Catalan club remained firm at their policy of not selling any of their star players in January.
