Arsenal come up against an in-form Everton side in the late afternoon kick-off on Sunday, in what will be a stern test of Arsene Wenger’s side’s title credentials.

Arsenal

The Toffees are fresh from their tremendous smash-and-grab win at Old Trafford midweek, which has left David Moyes’ Utd reeling, now 12 points behind the Gunners.

Arsenal will go into the fixture full of confidence, having secured their fifth win in six Premier League outings against Hull City on Wednesday.

Wenger opted for Nicklas Bendtner up top against Steve Bruce’s side, giving a much needed rest to main striker, Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman should return this weekend; but Arsenal are still sweating over the fitness of his French compatriot, Bacary Sagna.

The right-back missed the 2-0 midweek win with a hamstring injury, and there is no confirmation as to his fitness levels as we approach the weekend.

Here is the Arsenal Team News:

Defence: Sagna remains the worry for Arsene Wenger, with Carl Jenkinson set to deputise once more if he fails to recover in time. Kieran Gibbs should come back into the side at left-back, as the Gunners go for clean sheet number six from the last seven games.

MAJOR DOUBTS: Bacary Sagna

Midfield: Theo Walcott will be pushing for a start, having played a small part in the victory over Hull. Mikel Arteta could return to the fold, having been only utilised from the bench midweek, along with Jack Wilshere.

INJURED: Abou Diaby, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski

Attack: Olivier Giroud should come into the starting XI, with Bendtner’s appearance against Hull affording the hard-working Frenchman a deserved rest.

Arsenal Current Form: WWLWWW

Prediction: 2-1 – A bridge too far for Roberto Martinez’ Everton, as Arsenal continue their imperious form. Expect a tight encounter.
