Manchester United lost their third Premier League match of the season after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. Defeat against derby rivals doesn’t lift up the spirit for any fans in the world, and certainly Manchester United fans are no exception to this rule, but in this case, United fans can at least draw some positives out from the defeat.

Despite being down to 10-men for almost three quarter of the match, United fought brilliantly and have had their share of moments as well to get something out of the match. Although the results are not going their way, fans could see that United are playing a better football under Van Gaal.

Marouane Fellaini

One of the big positives for United is the return to form of Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian midfielder was superb against Chelsea and had put in a terrific performance yesterday against the Champions. With his strong physical presence, not only he did a good job in man-marking Yaya Toure, but played well between the lines and helped with both attack and the defence.

Fellaini struggled last season to make any sort of impression and came under severe criticism from the fans. Although he has yet to win the hearts, but at least fans could recognise the hard work he is putting in.

Full Time Devils’s Adam caught up with Jay from Red Flag Flying High yesterday after the derby defeat. Jay made a joke on Fellaini saying: “Remember this. Remember this well. Marouane Fellaini for Ballon d’Or 2015. Right. Mark my words. He is a football genius.”
