The 27-year-old’s future at Anfield remains uncertain as the Premier League superstar is set to leave the Merseyside club and sign for the La Liga giants. The striker was involved in a biting incident during Uruguay’s clash against Italy and it is believed the Reds are set to allow their player leave the club in the summer transfer window.

As days progress, Suarez has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona – a deal which also includes Sanchez as a part of the swap deal. The former United defender strongly believes it will if Brendan Rodgers urges Liverpool to bring the Chilean international to Anfield, if they decide to sell the Uruguayan international.

“The solution to the Suarez situation could be that if Barca do want him, I’d demand Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal,” Ferdinand wrote in his Daily Mail column.

“I wasn’t watching the Uruguay-Italy match but saw a mention on social media as soon as the incident happened.”

“For a few moments, I couldn’t believe he’d done it again. I thought it must be an old joke or a wind-up. Then the videos and photographs started flowing online. It’s just incredible behaviour, baffling.”

“I was just about at the point where not only did I think of Suarez as a fantastic player but that he’d rid himself of the devil inside and left all the rubbish behind. But one chomp later it’s obvious he’s still Jekyll and Hyde,” the former England centre-back added.

Meanwhile, any hope of signing Sanchez for Liverpool could see them face an uphill task. The Independent reports the Reds will face heavy competition from Arsene Wenger and his side Arsenal for Sanchez’s signature.

The Gunners want to bolster their attacking division and Wenger wants to land Sanchez in the summer transfer window. Should the Emirates club sign the Chilean international, it will be a blow for the Reds in their hope of bringing Sanchez to Merseyside.
