Transfer Rumours: Huntelaar and McCarthy to Manchester United and Manchester City as Tottenham send Defoe to Blackburn

A nice merry-go-round we have here.

Completely fabricated news coming out of Manchester suggests that Klaas Jan Huntelaar and Benni McCarthy are both in Manchester – now whether they are actually in Manchester or not, let’s assume that they are. In such a case, Benni McCarthy is the ideal striker deal for Manchester United – he has Premier League experience, he’s passionate about playing for a big club and he’s a out and out goalscorer – 2 out 3 qualities that Manchester United’s current ‘fit’ forward line (Tevez, and yes, he’s passionate about playing for Manchester United) lack.

That would mean that Eriksson and Manchester City have made a move for Huntelaar – a bit doubtful, because seeing how Boro’s move for Afonso Alves wasn’t working out I had thought that Eriksson would have gone after Alves instead of Huntelaar, who is probably twice as expensive. Both would have been a good move for Manchester City, and if it’s true, then all City now need is a midfielder.

How would Blackburn replace McCarthy? Through Jermain Defoe from Tottenham, of course. It makes little sense as Defoe was either going to stay at Tottenham till yesterday after showdown talks with Martin Jol in which he was reportedly assured of a good future at Tottenham or he was going to go to Aston Villa who were after him head over heels and had been knocking on Tottenham’s door for the last two weeks.

And who would Tottenham get from Blackburn in exchange? You’ve got to think Pedersen, only that Blackburn are not willing to trade away their best player although if Pedersen wants to leave he might as well whored out to Liverpool, you know. Tottenham would be a good choice for Pedersen, but I doubt that he’ll leave Blackburn, and I doubt Blackburn would let Pedersen go.

This is why they call it a rumour, by the way, and I can assure you, everything above is all rumours, nothing confirmed yet.
