Transfer Rumours: Arsenal, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Manchester City

Everyone loves transfers, even if the majority of them are a load of bollocks; it’s hard not to get somewhat excited when the likes of Kaka, Ronaldinho or Samuel Eto’o are linked with your club.

Some rumours may be more interesting than others, some may be so impossible that they bring you to tears; however transfer rumours are one of the best parts of the football world for me. Here’s the pick of the daily transfer rumours in the Premiership.

Manchester United Chase Jovetic

Manchester United have been linked with Montenegro international Steven Jovetic for around £7 million; nope, I’ve never heard of him either but Fergie usually has a good eye for young talent. Jovetic is a 17 year old striker and made his debut for Montenegro in a friendly against Hungary last season- the starlet has scored eighteen goals for Partizan Belgrade in fifty-four appearances. He has already netted six times this season and looks a promising prospect.

If this transfer rumour is true however, Fergie has to take a good look at himself; why did he let Rossi leave Manchester United? Considering his fine start for Villareal this season, it seems as if they would have been better off keeping the Italian at Manchester United. I suspect that there is little truth in this though, as a) the Sun has it and b) the Sun has it with no direct quotes. *Wait, Goal.com have it too. So, perhaps.

Ed: Goal.com prints all sorts of bollocks, not a trustworthy source. And usually you don’t get quotes on such matter.

Arsenal: Fabregas’ Agent Will Consider Any Barca Offers

Although there is no rumour that Fabregas will be going anywhere; this statement from his agent Joseba Diaz will be one that many Arsenal fans have feared for ages. Although Fabregas has stated many times that he is happy at Arsenal, it has always been known that he desires to go back to Spain at *some* point in his career, although how near or far away him going there is still unknown. Diaz said that they would ‘listen to any offer received from Barcelona, as they were the club that taught Cesc everything’.

That in my opinion is clearly wrong, as Fabregas has matured quite a bit at Arsenal, however like every other Arsenal fan I’m hoping that Cesc does not join the Catalan side, or indeed if he must, join it at the end (or later) of his eight year deal. Fabregas has been in great form this season, having already netted seven this season in all competitions.

Manchester City: Svennis Linked With January Move for Newcastle United’s Owen

Michael Owen’s time at Newcastle United has been hit by a spate of injuries in the two years at the club; it appears that his spell there may be ending if transfer rumours are to be believed. Owen has been linked with Manchester City in a massive £15 million move this January as Sven looks to strengthen up front. Although Manchester City have started off the season well, it would be up front where they appear weakest- with Bojinov’s injury and the manager’s unwillingness to use Bianchi.

Sven of course has dealt with Owen before when he was England manager, and seems to want to have the Newcastle United striker playing in his team again. £15 million is a lot of money to pay, considering Newcastle United bought him for £16 million two years ago and he has not played much since then; however Manchester City are backed by Thaksin Shinawatra’s money and thus can afford to spend. Owen would look weird to me at least in a Manchester City shirt, but I guess if they can offer him enough money, and perhaps even a place in the UEFA Cup he will move.

Editor: The Newcastle United 07/08 away kit is sky blue, so perhaps he’s been secretly preparing for it? 🙂

What’s your opinion on ‘dem rumours? Nailed on or a bunch of shite?
