Today’s roundup will start off with speculation and news about a few big names, so for those who love to read about the biggies, enjoy!
So, have Chelsea made a bid for Kaka? AC Milan say so, but Chelsea say no.
Rumor Rating: 1 – Not happening, at least not right now. That is all.
Inter have tabled an offer of 6.5m pounds for Chelsea’s Frank Lampard.
Rumor Rating: 4 – Chelsea may hold out for more, but Inter should get their man sooner or later.
Liverpool are set to make a final bid for Gareth Barry, as they’re set to offer Aston Villa 15m pounds plus add-ons and defender Steve Finnan.
Rumor Rating: 3 – Will that be enough? There’s no telling, but good luck to Rafa.
It’s starting to appear that Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be going anywhere, and even Real Madrid seem to be warming up to that, as president Roman Calderon is heading into to a meeting with United’s David Gill with little optimism about United being willing to sell their prized possession.
Rumor Rating: 2 – Well, when there’s something concrete from both sides, then it’ll be over. And hopefully it is, oh hopefully it is.
Arsenal, Aston Villa, and Tottenham are all interested in Real Madrid’s Ruben de la Red. The midfielder spent last season at Getafe, where he moved from Real last summer, but after an impressive season, Real bought him back and could now sell him for a big profit, as he is rated at 15m pounds, according to the Daily Mail.
Rumor Rating: 4 – There’s a good chance the 23-year old is set for a move away from Madrid and from Spain, considering that it appears to be one of those ‘buy back to sell’ deals. But, he’ll be a good purchase for someone, though 15m might be a potential-based price.
Stoke could sign Ipswich forward Jon Walters from Ipswich in the next few days for a fee in the region of 2m pounds. Stoke had a bid accepted for the 24-year old on Friday.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Walters, who scored 13 goals for Ipswich last season, can play either up front or as a right winger, but with Liam Lawrence set at the latter position, Walters will likely play up front for Tony Pulis.
Cardiff’s Robbie Fowler is set to turn down a new contract with Cardiff to finish out his career in Dubai.
Rumor Rating: 4 – Remember when he was one of the top strikers in England? Seems like a long time ago, doesn’t it? Before long, we might be saying the same thing about his former Liverpool teammate Michael Owen.
Ambitious Atletico Madrid have made bids of 20m euros and 15m euros for David Silva and Rafael Van der Vaart as they try to add a star to their lineup ahead of a run at La Liga and Champions League glory.
Rumor Rating: 3 – You certainly can’t scoff at their ambition, though it may be hard to land either one of those guys. Silva may not be for sale, and Van der Vaart might get higher offers from some of Europe’s other powers, but if they could land one of them, it could go a long way towards making them a force in La Liga next season.
Galatasaray are also showing their ambition this summer, and they could make a big splash by signing Real Madrid’s Julio Baptista, who they are currently trying to lure by flying to Spain for talks with Real reps.
Rumor Rating: 4 – Baptista still has plenty left in him, and a move to Turkey could prove to rejuvenate his career.
Argentine striker Mauro Zarate, who had an impressive loan spell at Birmingham last season, has joined Lazio on loan from Qatari side Al-Sadd.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Zarate’s price tag is a little high for Lazio to swing a permanent deal right now, but he’s a player with a lot of promise, and should make a big impact next season.
Danish international Michael Gravgaard is set to pen a three-year deal with Nantes, and he should officially be presented as a Nantes player today. The 30-year old is primarily a center back, but he can also play striker.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Gravgaard, who has been with Copenhagen since 2005, has five goals in 18 caps for Denmark.
Nigerian international forward Ishiaku Manasseh has moved from MSV Duisburg to Cologne, going from a relegated side to a promoted one.
Rumor Rating: 5 – Manasseh is a good signing regardless of if they can lure Lukas Podolski back, as he hit double figures in his first and only season at Duisburg last term.
Well, that’s it for today, but I’ll be back tomorrow. Chime in with your thoughts on today’s rumors, chip in with ones that you’ve heard, and like I said, I’ll be back tomorrow.
