Each year, sportswear manufacturers amaze us with the innovative and high-performance footwear they outfit our favorite athletes with. These are always flashy and have an amazing design but their real magic is not in their colors and details but in their design, innovative materials, and the science behind them. Last year was a good one for football boot fans as it was a year with a European Cup. You can check out a recap of the best boots of the season at Euro 2016. Even though this year was without a World or European cup, there are still quite a few great examples of sneakers and boots to check out.
Umbro Velocita 3 ($200)
The Umbro Velocita 3 is the latest evolution in Umbro’s speed boot silo. The new Velocita³ football boot offers comfort and fits through a special tri-layer construction on the upper, combined with an outsole designed to offer traction, agility, and acceleration, to deliver a speed boost for people who don’t just want to run in straight lines. The Velocita³ boot has a number of features designed to offer the multi-directional speed demanded by the manufacturer’s “Don’t Get Caught” philosophy.
Puma evoPOWER Vigor 1 Graphic FG ($220)
The evoPOWER Vigor 1 Graphic for firm ground optimizes the interaction between kicking velocity and accuracy. The elastane sock combined with the one-way stretchable AdapLite upper material and the G.S.F. outsole technology allows the foot to bend like in a barefoot kicking motion, thus enabling an optimum power delivery to the ball. The GripTex treatment on the upper has been applied for enhanced ball control. The AccuFoam 3D dots on the inside and outside improve comfort and kicking accuracy. The anatomically engineered outsole offers an optimal mix between stability and agility.
Nike Hypervenom Phantom 3 ($300)
The Nike Hypervenom Phantom 3 DF Firm-Ground Soccer Cleat is designed to “increase shot velocity and enable quick changes of direction on short-grass fields”. Its Ultralight, super-strong cables wrap the midfoot and integrate with the laces to provide stability during side-to-side movements, its knit collar fits anatomically around your ankle for a sock-like sensation, while its Nike HyperReactive plate features a flexible forefoot for responsive stability, allowing you to cut and change direction fast on the firm ground.

With Adidas as one of his sponsors, the currently injured French player has a complete collection of Adidas sportswear bearing his name, with the Ace 17+ Purecontrol Firm Ground Boots being part of it. The boots come with Adidas’ own Primeknit upper that delivers total ball control, a Sprintframe plate that offers light weight and stability. Made from wear-resistant materials.
