Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom is all set to spend the rest the season on loan to a Championship side in the next few days.

According to reports from The Independent, seven Championship clubs are hoping to sign the 19-year-old.

Norwich City and Nottingham Forest are leading the race to sign him while Bournemouth, Ipswich Town, Derby County, Wigan Athletic and Fulham have all registered their interest in the striker.

Young Akpom has made seven substitute appearances this season for the Gunners and signed a four-and-a-half year deal in January.

The loan deadline for Championship teams is on Thursday afternoon and Akpom will make a decision based on the club that give him the most first team opportunities.

In other transfer news, Arsenal are plotting a summer bid for Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic.

Despite the strong interest, The Telegraph says, Arsenal are likely to face strong competition from Manchester United and Chelsea for the £18 million-rated midfielder.
