Roma hosts Lazio in a high octane derby match this Sunday, with both sides looking to keep up the pressure at the top of the league table.

Roma are third in the table just one point off league leaders Fiorentina.

After their defeat against Inter Milan last week, Rudi Garcia’s side have dropped from first to third in the standings and will be looking to bounce back in front of their own fans this weekend.

The Derby Della Capitale is one of the most anticipates fixtures in world football and has always managed to showcase the unparalleled passion towards football from both sets of fans.

For some, a derby win holds more significance than winning the Scudetto but this time it seems that matters off the pitch could take center stage.

Following the decision to split the Curva sud, a place in the stadium where the Roma ultras sit, both sets of fans are planning to boycott Sunday’s match in protest.

Coming to the footballing side, Roma have been extremely impressive in the league this season and with Juventus faltering it seems that Roma’s new look attack could well steer them towards a Scudetto in May.

Meanwhile, despite a strong start to the season Lazio have dropped down to 7th place following three defeats in their last four league games.

The Biancocelesti will look to recover from their recent slump with a win this weekend and there can be no greater incentive than the pride of beating your arch rivals in their own backyard.
