According to reports from reputed Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Roma are interested in signing Manchester United striker Robin Van Persie in the upcoming summer transfer window. Van Persie has struggled with niggling injuries this season and has scored just 10 goals in 37 appearances.

The Dutchman’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire in 2016 and there are suggestions that the 31 year old could be sold at the end of the current campaign. Van Persie is also on high wages at £220,000-a-week. There is no doubt that United will be in the market to sign a new striker in the summer as they will aim for a Premier League title challenge next season.

Radamel Falaco too has struggled in his loan spell, while Javier Hernandez could also be sold after returning from his loan spell at Real Madrid. Thus the Old Trafford side will thus clear up positions to find a new striker who can partner Wayne Rooney up front.

The report states that Roma will be an enticing prospect for Van Persie as his national team mate Kevin Strootman also featured for the Italian capital side. However it will be interesting to see if Roma do match Van Persie’s wages and United’s evaluation of the player
