According to reports in the Independent, Arsenal are closing in on a £8m deal for French striker Loic Remy from QPR. The 27 year old spent the last season on loan at Newcastle United scoring 14 goals in 26 appearances for the Magpies.

Independent have quoted London based newspaper Get West London claiming that talks have taken place between the two clubs this week but but personal terms are yet to be agreed.

Arsenal’s desperation to sign a striker are well documented as the London club need a quality player up front who can take the pressure of Olivier Giroud up front.

Remy has now returned to England following France’s elimination from the World Cup in Brazil but Newcastle might still swoop if the Gunners delay negotiations.

Remy had earlier been spotted in the stands at the Emirates which fueled speculations linking him to a move to the Gunners.
