Everton and Middlesbrough suffered from bad referee decisions

The 2008-09 Premier League season kicks-off with the Right Result team back in action and as always there were some big talking points.

Everton were familiar subjects of Right Result judgments last season and the Toffees are off to an early start this term, being hard-done-by in their encounter with Paul Ince’s Blackburn Rovers outfit. Once again, the panel rules in favour of the Toffees as Blackburn Rovers’ last-gasp winner at Goodison Park should not have counted due to Ryan Nelsen being in an offside position.

Right Result: Everton 2-2 Blackburn

Middlesbrough have been acknowledged for respecting the new Respect campaign as referee Martin Atkinson received a reasonably polite response from captain Manny Pogatetz and defender David Wheater after the latter (wrongly in the Right Result’s opinion) had a goal ruled out against Tottenham Hotspur.

Right Result: Middlesbrough 3-1 Tottenham

Those weren’t the only two incidents the team looked at as there were shouts in the Chelsea-Pompey and Man United-Newcastle matches, but the referee was deemed by the panel to have called the big decisions correctly.

See how this changes the league table. Until next week….
