According to reports from The Sun, West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini is targeting Brazilian left-back Marcelo.

The report claims that the Hammers will have to pay over the top to bring him to the London club.

The new West Ham boss is keen to bolster the defence and wants to sign a new centre-back, and has targeted the Brazilian who is yet to be capped by his country.

The Sun claims that the Hammers will have to pay around £15million plus top wages for him to bring him to the UK.

The 31-year-old would be a huge asset and he would love to play in the Premier League.

The only flip side of the deal is that he lacks a re-sale, and that it would be an expensive deal.

West Ham have considered West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson as an alternative option, but the Baggies will demand a fee in the north of £20 million.

The Hammers have been busy in the transfer market so far, and have already made some very good signings.
