Real Madrid offered Santos €150 million for Neymar before the Brazilian star chose to sign for Barcelona.

The father of the Barcelona player revealed this to a Spanish National Court judge, as quoted in Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today.

Neymar’s father has been in court to defend some of the contracts made with Barcelona.

The Spanish justice system are investigating the possibility of tax crimes and misappropriation in procurement of advanced payments against the Spanish giants.

Neymar has made an excellent start to his 2014-15 season with the Catalan club, scoring six goals in five La Liga appearances this season, of which only three have been starts.

The 22-year old is back to full fitness after missing the World Cup semi-final and third-place playoff in his home country with a serious back injury picked up in the quarter-final victory over Colombia.

Neymar scored last night in the UEFA Champions League for Barcelona but it was not enough to prevent his side losing 3-2 at Paris Saint-Germain.

Whilst Real Madrid failed in their apparent massive bid to sign Neymar last summer, they did splash €91 million out on Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, €32 million on Real Sociedad’s Asier Illarramendi and €27 million for Isco from Málaga.
