Rangers have agreed on a deal to sign the Mali international Lassana Coulibaly.

The 22-year-old will spend the next season on loan at Ibrox and he will be Steven Gerrard’s eighth summer signing.

Coulibaly’s move has been confirmed on the club’s official website and Rangers are now waiting for international clearance.

The young midfielder has been an impressive prospect in Ligue 1 over the last three seasons and he will be hoping to make his mark in Scottish football next season.

Gerrard wanted to add to his midfield this summer and the new Rangers boss will be delighted with the options at his disposal now.

The Mali international will add some presence and drive to Rangers’ midfield. The Scottish side were in desperate need of a combative presence at the centre of the park.

Lassana made 23 appearances for Angers last season and he will be hoping to continue his development with regular first-team football under the guidance of Steven Gerrard.

The youngster has made nine appearances for his national side so far.

Here is how the Rangers fans reacted to the news.
