Championship club, Queens Park Rangers, are set to sign Sean Goss from Manchester United in the January transfer window. According to reports from the Independent (live transfer blog), QPR will sign Gross for an initial fee of £800,000.

The midfielder will finalise personal terms and undergo a medical on Friday. If everything goes according to the plan, he will be registered as a QPR player before the weekend.

Goss, who can play at left-back as well as in midfield, joined United from Exeter City in 2012. A lifelong United fan, Goss has represented England at age-group levels.

The 21-year-old is a naturally gifted left-footed midfielder and has drawn comparisons with Michael Carrick because of his passing ability in the U18s team. His progress was hampered by injuries, but he was still a part of their U-21 title-winning team in 2014-15.

Goss has earned a call up to train with José Mourinho’s squad, but is yet to make a first-team appearance for United. He has six months left on his contract at Manchester United, and has rejected a new deal offered by the club.

The youngster is looking to play regularly and has decided to seek first-team football in the Championship. Wigan and Barnsley were also interested in signing Goss but he decided to move to Loftus Road after a positive meeting with Ian Holloway earlier this week.

The midfielder will be Holloway’s second signing of the January transfer window after Kazenga LuaLua. He is expected to be a part of QPR’s squad for Saturday’s Championship game at home against Burton Albion.
